In a recent paper Conway and Kochen, Found. Phys. 36, 2006, claim to have established that theories of the Ghirardi-Rimini-Weber
(RW) type, i.e., of spontaneous wave function collapse, cannot be made relativistic. On the other hand, relativistic GRW-type
theories have already been presented, in my recent paper, J. Stat. Phys. 125, 2006, and by Dowker and Henson, J. Stat. Phys.
115, 2004. Here, I elucidate why these are not excluded by the arguments of Conway and Kochen.

Twin Paradox and the Logical Foundation of Relativity Theory 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We study the foundation of space-time theory in the framework of first-order logic (FOL). Since the foundation of mathematics has been successfully carried through (via set theory) in FOL, it is not entirely impossible to do the same for space-time theory (or relativity). First we recall a simple and streamlined FOL-axiomatization Specrel of special relativity from the literature. Specrel is complete with respect to questions about inertial motion. Then we ask ourselves whether we can prove the usual relativistic properties of accelerated motion (e.g., clocks in acceleration) in Specrel. As it turns out, this is practically equivalent to asking whether Specrel is strong enough to “handle” (or treat) accelerated observers. We show that there is a mathematical principle called induction (IND) coming from real analysis which needs to be added to Specrel in order to handle situations involving relativistic acceleration. We present an extended version AccRel of Specrel which is strong enough to handle accelerated motion, in particular, accelerated observers. Among others, we show that~the Twin Paradox becomes provable in AccRel, but it is not provable without IND. 相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to explain clearly why nonlocality must be an essential part of the theory of relativity. In the standard local version of this theory, Lorentz invariance is extended to accelerated observers by assuming that they are pointwise inertial. This locality postulate is exact when dealing with phenomena involving classical point particles and rays of radiation, but breaks down for electromagnetic fields, as field properties in general cannot be measured instantaneously. The problem is corrected in nonlocal relativity by supplementing the locality postulate with a certain average over the past world line of the observer. 相似文献

Ergo surfaces are investigated in spacetimes with a cosmological constant. We find the existence of multiple timelike Killing vectors, each corresponding to a distinct ergo surface, with no one being preferred. Using a kinematic invariant, which provides a measure of hypersurface orthogonality, we explore its potential role in selecting a preferred timelike Killing vector and consequently a unique ergo surface. 相似文献

This contribution presents two real-time capable nonlinear model-predictive control (NMPC) approaches for an electro-pneumatic clutch for heavy trucks: a centralized control approach and a cascaded one. A clutch is necessary at start-up or during gear shifts to connect or disconnect the combustion engine and the gear box. This automated actuator disburdens the driver and provides the necessary actuation force according to the large torque typically transmitted through the drive train. The force characteristic of the clutch, however, is subject to hysteresis, which is described by a generalized Bouc–Wen model and used for a feedforward hysteresis compensation in the control algorithm. The proposed NMPC-algorithm involves (i) a minimization of the difference between the desired and predicted state vector at the end of the prediction horizon and (ii) flatness-based techniques to compute desired trajectories for the complete state vector as well as the control input. The optimal control is given by an additional, minimum-norm control input that minimizes the difference between the predicted state vector and the desired one at the end of the prediction horizon. Thereby, the computation effort of the NMPC approaches can be kept relatively small, and a real-time evaluation becomes possible. A reduced-order observer estimates an effective pressure in the clutch that also accounts for an uncertain disturbance force. Thereby, a disturbance compensation and a high tracking accuracy is achievable for the piston position as controlled variable. The efficiency of the two proposed control structures is emphasized by experimental results from a dedicated test rig. 相似文献

Based on the idea of unknown input observers (UIOs), this Letter considers the problem of chaos secure communication within the master-slave configuration. The unknown constant disturbance of parameters in chaotic systems and the unknown input in chaotic signals can be regarded as messages to be recovered in the slave end. If certain conditions are satisfied, we can recover all the unknown messages by designing the UIO based slave. Theoretical analysis and simulation results fully verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. 相似文献

由于子系统的时空耦合作用及参数的摄动性,实现参数摄动的耦合时空混沌的跟踪控制非常困难。然而模型未知的耦合时空混沌的每个子系统可由一系列模糊逻辑模型逼近,每个模糊逻辑模型代表子系统在特定运行点的局部线性化模型,同时考虑子系统状态的不可测性,采用模糊观测器来估计子系统的状态。基于模糊模型及状态观测器,计及混沌参数的摄动性,提出一种模糊跟踪控制方案,实现了参数摄动的耦合时空混沌的鲁棒跟踪控制,并将模糊跟踪控制表征为线性矩阵不等式问题,用线性矩阵不等式的凸优化方法求解控制器参数,确保系统的全局渐近稳定性。仿真验证了方案的有效性。 相似文献
